My Attempts at Abstract Art

Dandelion Abstraction Number One
by Michael Squier

This painting was created in an abstract class that my wife Rita was teaching.  I really enjoyed the freedom of not being restricted to any reality or pre-described lines.  The only true restriction was to shape the dandelion heads round.  This was done with masking fluid,  the rest is just wet color and creativity.  The size is 11" x 15" on 140 lb. watercolor paper.

This painting is for sale in my Etsy shop:

High Seas Original Watercolor & Ink

High Seas
by Michael Squier

For the love of pirates and pirate ships.  First I drew a pen and ink sketch of a pirate ship sailing along the coast.  Then I used watercolor paints to add color.  It is so important to use a waterproof india ink pen so the lines do not bleed when applying the color.  I mix my watercolors wet into wet right on the paper.

This 5x7 inch painting is for sale in our Etsy shop.
